Recording Videos

Zidi offers two ways to record: directly in the web app or using the Chrome Extension for screen recording.

Web App Recording

  1. Navigate to your workspace and click New Recording.
  2. Select your recording source:
    • Camera only — Record from your webcam.
    • Screen + Camera — Record your screen with a camera overlay.
    • Screen only — Record your screen without camera.
  3. Choose your layout:
    • Picture-in-Picture — Small camera bubble over your screen.
    • Side-by-Side — Screen and camera shown equally.
    • Full Camera — Camera takes the entire frame.
  4. Configure settings:
    • Aspect Ratio — 16:9, 9:16, 4:3, or 1:1.
    • Background — Solid color, gradient, blur, or custom image.
    • Camera shape — Circle or rectangle.
  5. Click Start Recording. A 3-second countdown begins.
  6. Click Stop when finished. Your recording is automatically saved.

Chrome Extension Recording

The Chrome Extension offers additional capabilities like tab audio capture and region selection.

  1. Install the Chrome Extension.
  2. Click the Zidi icon in your browser toolbar.
  3. Choose your recording mode: Full Screen, Current Tab, or Region.
  4. Toggle camera and microphone on/off.
  5. Click Start Recording.
  6. Your recording uploads automatically to your workspace.

Recording Tips

Pro tip: Use a well-lit environment and position your camera at eye level for the best results. Close unnecessary applications to reduce CPU usage during screen recording.
