Account settings

Manage your profile, password and signed-in devices, or delete your account. All of this lives in the Account Settings dialog.

Available on: Free, Starter and Pro

Open Account Settings

  1. In the top-right corner of the dashboard, click your picture or initials.
  2. Click Account. The Account Settings dialog opens.

There is no separate Settings page. Your plan, credits and invoices are under Billing in the sidebar. See Change or cancel your plan.

Name and email

  • To change your name, edit the Name field and click Save.
  • Your Email is shown but cannot be changed in the app.

Profile picture

  1. Click your picture or initials in the top-right corner.
  2. Click Change Picture and choose an image.

Use a JPEG, PNG, GIF or WebP image under 2 MB. A larger file shows "Image must be under 2MB". To remove your picture, open the same menu and click Remove Picture.

Password

Change your password

  1. Open Account Settings and go to Change Password.
  2. Enter your current password, then the new password twice.
  3. Click Update Password.

The new password needs 8 to 128 characters, with at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter and one number. When the change works, Zidi signs you out on all your other devices. You stay signed in on this one. A Sign out of this session button appears if you want to sign out here too.

Add a password to a Google account

If you signed up with Google, the dialog shows Set Password instead: "You signed in with Google. Set a password to also sign in with email and password."

  1. Click Send Password Setup Email.
  2. Open the email and follow the link to choose a password.

After that you can sign in with Google or with your email and password.

Forgot your password

  1. On the sign-in page, click Forgot password?.
  2. Enter your email and click Send reset link.
  3. Open the email "Reset your password - Zidi" and choose a new password.

The reset link works for 1 hour.

Signed-in devices

  1. Open Account Settings. Under Active sessions, click Show active sessions.
  2. Each session shows the browser, IP address and when it was last used. The one you are using is tagged "this device".
  3. Click Revoke to sign out a single session.

Sign out of all devices ends every session, on every browser and device, including this one and the Chrome extension. The extension notices within a few hours, or as soon as you try to record. Use it if you think someone else has access to your account.

Automatic sign-out

After 60 minutes without activity, the Zidi dashboard asks Are you still there? and counts down 60 seconds.

  • Click Stay signed in, or press Esc, to keep working. Moving the mouse does not answer the question.
  • Click Sign out now to sign out straight away.
  • If nobody answers, Zidi signs you out and opens the sign-in page.

Activity in any Zidi dashboard tab counts, including the Brand Kit page. So do a video playing on a dashboard page, an upload in progress, and an open editor, recording studio or webpage builder tab.

If you do not use Zidi for 7 days, you need to sign in again.

The Chrome extension keeps its own sign-in. A recording keeps uploading even if the web app signs you out; sign in again to open it.

Delete your account

Before you start: if you own a team that has other members, Zidi will not delete your account. You cannot hand the team to someone else in the app, so remove every member first. See Remove a member.

  1. Open Account Settings and scroll to Delete Account.
  2. Click I want to delete my account and read the warning.
  3. If your account has a password, enter it.
  4. Type DELETE in the box.
  5. Click Delete Account.

If you are on a paid plan, the dialog also tells you that deleting your account cancels your subscription, and that no refund is issued for the rest of the current billing period. The subscription stops at the end of the current period.

What happens next

  • You are signed out of the web app. The Chrome extension signs out at its next check.
  • Any teams you own are deleted at once.
  • Your subscription is set to end at the next billing date.
  • Your account and data are kept for 30 days, then deleted for good.

Restore your account within 30 days

To undo the deletion, sign in again within 30 days, with your password or with Google. Your account is restored. Teams you owned are not restored, and the subscription stays cancelled.

If you try to sign up again with the same email during those 30 days, Zidi shows "This email belongs to a deactivated account. Sign in with your existing password to restore it, or use a different email."

Troubleshooting

"Current password is incorrect"

The current password you typed does not match. Try again, or sign out and use Forgot password? on the sign-in page.

"You own the following team with other members"

Zidi blocks deletion while you own a team with other members, and lists those teams. The message mentions transferring ownership, but the app has no way to do that, so remove your members instead. Open Team in the sidebar and remove every member. Then delete your account again.

"Please type "DELETE" to confirm."

Type the word DELETE in capital letters in the confirmation box.
