Change or cancel your plan

Manage your subscription from Billing in the sidebar. This page covers upgrades, downgrades, cancelling, invoices, and what happens to your videos and team when a paid plan ends.

Available on: Free, Starter and Pro

The Billing & Plan page has three tabs: Plans, Credit Usage and History. The Plans tab starts with a Current Plan card that shows your plan, your Billing Period and your Status.

If you are a member of someone else's team and your own plan is Free, Billing shows "Your workspace billing is managed by the workspace owner". The team owner handles that team's plan and seats.

Upgrade your plan

From Free to Starter or Pro

  1. In the sidebar, click Billing. The Plans tab opens.
  2. Next to View pricing:, choose Monthly or Annual.
  3. On the Starter or Pro card, click Upgrade. The Billing Information dialog opens.
  4. Fill in Full Name, Country, Address, City, State/Province and ZIP/Postal Code. All fields are required.
  5. If you already have team members, a Choose your Creators list appears. Tick the members who should get a paid seat. Each ticked member adds one seat to the price. Unticked members stay as Creator - Free.
  6. Click Proceed to Payment. The button shows the total, for example "Proceed to Payment - 3 × $19 = $57/month".
  7. Pay on our payment provider's checkout page. You then return to Billing.

Back on Billing, Zidi shows "Payment received! Activating your plan..." and then "Your plan is now active!". You also get a welcome email. There is no free trial. You are charged when you pay.

The billing period you choose here, monthly or annual, stays with the subscription. There is no button to switch an active subscription between monthly and annual. The Monthly/Annual switch only changes the prices shown.

From Starter to Pro

  1. In the sidebar, click Billing.
  2. On the Pro card, click Upgrade. The Confirm Upgrade dialog opens.
  3. Click Confirm Upgrade.

The upgrade happens at once. The dialog says: "Your plan will be upgraded immediately. The prorated amount will be charged to your payment method on file." When it works, Zidi shows "Plan upgraded successfully". Your billing period stays the same.

Downgrade your plan

A downgrade never happens straight away. It is scheduled for the end of your current billing period. You keep your current plan until then.

  1. In the sidebar, click Billing.
  2. On the lower plan's card, click Downgrade. A Downgrade to dialog opens with the warning "This change will take effect at the end of your billing cycle".
  3. Click Schedule Downgrade, or Keep Current Plan to back out.

Zidi shows "Downgrade scheduled". A banner at the top of the Plans tab then says, for example, "Your plan will be downgraded to Starter on" followed by the date. For a downgrade to Free it says "Your subscription will be cancelled on" followed by the date. To undo it before that date, click Keep Current Plan in the banner. You can have only one scheduled downgrade at a time.

From Pro to Starter

When the downgrade takes effect, your Starter subscription starts with 1 seat. Extra seats you bought on Pro are not carried over. The downgrade dialog does not mention this. Check your members' seats on the Team page after the change.

From Starter or Pro to Free

Downgrading to Free works like cancelling: your subscription ends at the end of the billing period. If you have team members, the dialog lists them under Team Members with a tick box for each.

Members you untick in the downgrade dialog are removed from your team as soon as you click Schedule Downgrade, not at the end of the period. When the period ends, every remaining member is removed as well.

Cancel your subscription

  1. In the sidebar, click Billing.
  2. On the Current Plan card, click Cancel Subscription.
  3. Read the list under "You will lose access to", then click Yes, Cancel Subscription. Click Keep Subscription to back out.

Your subscription is cancelled at the end of the current billing period. You keep all paid features until then, and the Status shows Cancelled. Cancelling stops the next renewal. It does not refund the current period.

There is no button to undo a cancellation. After you cancel, the Cancel Subscription button disappears. If you change your mind before the period ends, contact support. After the period ends, you can upgrade again from Billing.

Before a new seat is bought, the Team page shows a Billing Summary with Charge today (prorated) and Then at next renewal. See Paid seats.

Invoices and billing history

  1. In the sidebar, click Billing, then the History tab.
  2. The Billing History table lists each Transaction with its Date, Amount and Status.
  3. To get an invoice, open the menu at the end of a successful row and click Download Invoice.

The status is one of SUCCESS, PENDING, FAILED or REFUNDED. If Zidi shows "Invoice download is not available yet.", contact support and name the transaction and date.

What happens when a paid plan ends

A paid plan ends when a cancellation or downgrade to Free takes effect, when the subscription expires, or when the first payment of a new subscription fails. Then:

  • Your plan becomes Free, with Free limits. See Plans and limits.
  • Your subscription goes back to 1 seat.
  • Everyone except you is removed from your team.
  • Your Brand Kit is kept, but it is no longer applied to new recordings.
  • Your integration connections stay, but they stop sending data until you are on Pro again. You may need to connect Zapier again after you upgrade. See What happens if you leave Pro.
  • Your AI credits stay in your account. Credits never expire.

The 90-day grace period for your videos

Free lets you keep 10 videos, plus any invite bonus. If you have more than that when your plan ends, you get 90 days to decide.

  • A banner in your dashboard says "Your plan was downgraded to Free" and shows how many videos are over the limit and how many days are left.
  • Zidi emails you on day 30, day 60 and day 80. The subject reads like "Reminder: 5 videos will be deleted in 10 days — Zidi".
  • On day 90, Zidi deletes your oldest videos over the limit. Your newest 10 videos, plus any invite bonus, are kept.

To keep every video, upgrade again before the 90 days are up. In the sidebar, click Billing, then Upgrade on Starter or Pro. The banner's Re-subscribe button opens the same Billing page.

Videos deleted after the grace period cannot be recovered.

If a payment fails

  • If the first payment for a new plan fails, your account goes back to Free, as described above.
  • If a renewal payment is put on hold, you keep your plan for now, and the Status shows PENDING.
  • If an upgrade from Starter to Pro cannot be charged, Zidi shows "Payment failed. Please check your payment method and try again." Your plan does not change.

Troubleshooting

"Payment received. Your plan will activate shortly"

The full message is "Payment received. Your plan will activate shortly — refresh in a minute if you don't see it." Your payment went through, but activation took longer than usual. Wait a minute and refresh the Billing page.

"A payment for this workspace is already in progress"

You started a checkout a few minutes ago. Finish that checkout, or wait a few minutes and try again. Zidi allows 3 checkout attempts per minute.

"Workspace already has an active subscription"

You already have a paid plan, so a new checkout is refused. To move from Starter to Pro, use Upgrade on the Pro card, which changes your existing subscription.

"A downgrade is already pending"

You already scheduled a downgrade. To change it, click Keep Current Plan in the banner to cancel it, then schedule the new one.

"Cancellation failed"

The full message is "Cancellation failed — your subscription is still active. Please try again." Nothing changed. Try again in a moment. If it keeps failing, contact support.
