Teams and seats
Your team is how you work with other people in Zidi. Invite teammates for free, then give paid seats to the people who need your plan.
Available on: Free, Starter and Pro. Paid seats need Starter or Pro.
Your team
Each account owns one team. Zidi creates it for you the first time you open the Team page, invite someone, create a team library or buy a paid plan. It is named after you, for example "Alex's Team".
To open it, click Team in the sidebar. The Team Management page shows Team Members, Invite Team Members and, when you have open invitations, Pending Invitations.
Besides your own team, you can belong to one other team. If you are on someone else's team, the Team page also shows a Team Membership card for it.
Roles
| Role | Paid seat | Gets the owner's plan | What they can do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Owner | Yes | It is their plan | Everything, including paid seats and making Admins |
| Admin | Yes | Yes | Uses a paid seat and gets the owner's plan. In the app, only the owner can invite, remove members or change roles. |
| Creator - Paid | Yes | Yes | Record, upload and edit with the owner's plan |
| Creator - Free | No | No | Record within their own plan's limits |
| Viewer | No | No | View shared videos only. The Team page does not offer this role. |
The role menu next to each member offers Admin, Creator - Paid and Creator - Free. Viewer is not in that menu. To give someone view-only access, add them as a Viewer in a team library after they join.
A member with a paid seat uses the owner's plan, and the plan card in their sidebar shows "(via Team)". See Get a paid plan through a team seat.
Invite people
Invitations are free on every plan, including Free. Only the team owner can invite, from their Team page.
- In the sidebar, click Team.
- In Invite Team Members, type one or more email addresses. Separate them with commas, semicolons or new lines.
- Click Send Invite. The button reads Send Invites when you separate addresses with commas.
Zidi emails each person an invitation. It also shows an invite link that you can copy and send yourself. If you invited several people, the link is for the last address. Use Copy Link under Pending Invitations for the others. Everyone joins as Creator - Free. You can change their role after they accept.
On the Free plan, each invitation that someone accepts adds 5 videos to your Free limit, up to 25 extra. See The Free plan video limit.
Pending invitations
Open invitations appear under Pending Invitations, with how long each one has left, for example "Expires in 12 days".
- An invitation expires after 14 days.
- Copy Link copies the invite link again.
- Resend sends the email again. On an expired invitation, it also renews it for another 14 days.
- Revoke cancels the invitation, and the link stops working.
Accept an invitation
- Open the link in the invitation email.
- If you are not signed in, click Sign In to Accept, or Create Account if you are new to Zidi. Use the email address the invitation was sent to.
- Click Accept Invitation. Zidi shows "Welcome to" and the team name.
You can belong to only one team besides your own. To join a different team, first leave the one you are on.
Paid seats
On Starter or Pro, each member with the Admin or Creator - Paid role uses a paid seat. Your plan price includes one seat, for you. Each extra seat costs the same as your plan. See Prices. Only the team owner can add or remove paid seats. On Free there are no paid seats, so members keep their own plan.
Give a member a paid seat
- In the sidebar, click Team.
- Next to the member, click Upgrade, or choose Creator - Paid or Admin in the role menu.
- Read the Change Role dialog and confirm.
If you have a seat nobody is using, the dialog says "An available seat will be assigned — no additional charge". If all seats are in use, it says "A paid seat will be added — prorated charge applies immediately". A Billing Summary then shows Additional seat (1×), Charge today (prorated) and Then at next renewal. The new seat is charged at once, for the rest of your current billing period.
The member gets the paid features right away. A plan can have up to 90 seats.
Move a member back to Creator - Free
Choose Creator - Free in the member's role menu and confirm. The member keeps full Creator access until the end of the current billing cycle. There is no prorated refund. The seat charge stops at your next renewal.
Remove a member
- In the sidebar, click Team.
- Click the trash icon next to the member.
- In Remove Team Member, choose whether to tick Remove their videos from shared team libraries.
- Click Remove Member.
The member loses access to your team and its libraries at once. Their videos always stay in their own library. The tick box only decides whether those videos also stay in your team libraries.
If the member had a paid seat, no prorated refund or credit is issued for the unused time. The seat charge stops at your next renewal date. The owner cannot be removed.
Leave a team
- In the sidebar, click Team.
- On the Team Membership card, click Leave Team and confirm.
You lose access to that team's shared libraries. Videos you shared stay available to the team. The owner can invite you again later.
Team ownership
You cannot hand over your team to someone else in the app. This matters if you want to delete your account: Zidi blocks deletion while you own a team that has other members. Remove the members first. See Delete your account.
What happens to your team when your plan changes
- If you downgrade to Free, members you untick in the downgrade dialog are removed at once. See From Starter or Pro to Free.
- When a paid plan ends, every member except you is removed from the team.
- When a Pro to Starter downgrade takes effect, the subscription restarts with 1 seat. Check your members' seats after a downgrade to Starter.
